We have nothing but great things to say about Rob.

He is an outstanding tutor and helped our son achieve excellent grades in both English Language and English Literature GCSEs. Rob is a very down to earth guy and his approachable style really helped my son gain confidence in subjects he found quite challenging. It was very evident after just a few lessons that he and my son clicked and as the sessions continued we could see his confidence grow and the results improve week by week.

We feel very fortunate to have found him and would have no hesitation in recommending his services.

Rob is a fantastic Tutor , he started tutoring my son just 3 months before his GCSE exams. My son was able to move from grade 5 to achieving grade 7 in Eng literature for GCSE 2024 exams.Not many tutors are able to do this in a short period.
Rob was very structured and methodical in his teaching and gave my son the confidence to perform well.

Our son was an able English student but really struggling with technique in English exams so his results were not reflecting what he was capable of. With Rob's help, he has gained a great deal of confidence (and enjoyment) in exam essay writing, so much so that he is changing to English for one of his A level choices having previously decided he wasn't good enough at it to continue to a higher level. Our son really enjoyed and got a lot out of his sessions with Rob, who makes studying English entertaining and enjoyable as well as educational. Rob's method of combining exam practice and deepening understanding of the texts definitely worked for our son.

We approached Rob over a year ago when my son Gregor was Y10 and in the bottom set in English in a very competitive private school in Dubai. From the start Rob was amazing with him. He started with building his confidence first, and by finding things Gregor was good , not just focusing on how much he didn't know. Great motivator! He knows GCSE syllabus inside out. My son enjoyed the lessons very much and alwsys looked forward to his next lesson. His English grade at school improved significantly, his use of language in genersl improved, he didn't think literature was boring anymore. It was a hard work sometimes but we were lucky that we found Rob as early as we did and that two of them got on really well. We can't wait to see some fantastic results in August. Thank you Rob, Gregor couldn't have done it without you. We will miss your lessons!

Rob is a fantastic tutor and really delighted with how he has worked with our Son. He has turned a 16 yr boy who was disengaged and far from passionate about English to a boy who enjoys writing, discovering new vocabulary and is now working hard for his English Lit & Lang GCSES. At the start of year 11 he was predicted 5/6 and is now achieving 8/9!

I cannot get praise Rob enough, my son was reluctant and disheartened going into the exam with a not great portfolio coursework score -and no real idea on how to approach the written exam….

I contacted Rob just before Easter with what felt like an impossible task! Rob is just so personable and my son instantly clicked with him. He gets teenagers, and they want to do well for him. This was a new play and rob just got straight into it with my son. Within a few weeks my son was prioritizing doing robs assignments over anything else.
He’s just come out of the exam and rob had prepared him perfectly - regardless of what grade he gets, rob made him feel good and competent in drama and for that we are very very grateful

I just wish I’d found him earlier!

Rob helped my daughter with her English and Drama GCSE. She started with Rob in February and the help and confidence that he gave her enabled her to pass her English and Drama with a higher grade than expected. I highly recommend Rob.

Cannot praise Rob enough. Over the past seven months or so, he has really helped our son make huge progress. Rob is a fantastic tutor who comes highly recommended.

Rob is a marvellous teacher. He helps you to feel at ease in your ability in acting. Thanks to him this year I realised how to be a character, what I mean by that is building the life of a character, his environment, his background and reaching to emotions. And even realising on my own that for being a character you need to understand them, to understand their souls. I am still learning and I cannot wait to work with him again. And I am so happy that this year, I've discovered this passion for acting and that I want to be an actress.

For the last year, Rob has tutored my son in English GCSE. I really cannot recommend Rob enough. He has a magical way of engaging and teaching a typical laid back teenager and getting him to look forward to each lesson. He styles his tutoring way to each individual student. I also recommended Rob to a couple of other friends teenagers who could not believe the difference he made to them, one was similar to my son, the other is very academic and just needed Rob to bring him up to speed which he did quite quickly. The majority of tutoring was online but Rob also kindly went out of his way to come and see my son face to face just before the exams started. If anyone is looking for an English tutor then I would snap Rob up quickly as he really is fab. Thank you so much Rob, you have made an amazing difference!

Rob initially supported my Year 11 daughter with her Drama GCSE when she needed help preparing for the Devising element of the exam. He very quickly restored her confidence and, with his help, moved from predicted level 7 to 9 in all areas.
Following this, Rob has also supported her with both elements of GCSE English, with similar improvement in her confidence and approach. Not only has it been an absolute pleasure to see how Rob's tutorials have benefited my daughter but she has really enjoyed her lessons too!

John is a dedicated, knowledgeable, passionate tutor, he successfully supported my daughter preparation work for her drama A Level exams, at the same time working to help for her audition to Drama school.
He enhanced her curiosity, understanding and curricula knowledge and supported her in the performances' practice, strengthening her confidence, giving always the right advice and guidelines. John has really helped my daughter in this difficult and at times traumatic lockdown period, managing to add confidence to her morale. Highly recommended.

Rob is an excellent tutor.
He has been tutoring both of my children (age 10 and 12) and I can see a real difference in their progress. He is great at engaging the kids and motivating them to write where previously they were reluctant. I would definitely recommend him strongly and we continue to work with him.

Rob has tutored my son in English throughout his time studying GCSEs. He has made such a phenomenal impact on my son’s progress during this time. Rob has been supporting our son since the start of his A-Level Drama course. From the first lesson it was evident that Rob is able to quickly gauge where the weak areas are and how best to support the student.

If you want a tutor who is friendly and builds a good relationship with his students quickly, thus gaining their trust, then Rob is the person for you. He has an enthusiasm for his subject that is transmitted in each lesson, whether face-to-face or online, which helps to build the student’s confidence in their own ability and understanding of the subject.

With performance work, Rob supports and guides our son from his initial ideas until these ideas reach fruition. Written work is not forgotten. Rob underpins the practical work with the all-important written work.

Happy to have a curve ball thrown in, Rob is willingly supporting our son and a fellow student together as they prepare a duologue.

We have no hesitation in recommending Rob to anyone who is looking for a tutor.

Rob was a superb tutor for our son who wasn’t reallly focusing and getting on with the work. Rob turned that around. He is a great communicator and a good laugh, but was firm with our son and wouldn’t let him get away with slacking or not doing his work. And our son passed both English papers. I can whole hearted recommend Rob as a tutor. He’s also extremely flexible on times and accommodating busy family diaries. Clare

It's such a cliche to start "I can't recommend Rob highly enough" but I really really can't recommend Rob highly enough! He's been helping our son over several months now, first with English GCSE, then with Spanish and most recently with interview practice for 6th form college. My son is reserved to say the least, he also has some elements of Dyspraxia - poor memory and organisation - yet Rob has come to truly understand him and consequently see how best to tutor him with very good results, particularly in English. It's always been easy arranging sessions, communication is straight forward, we get immediate feedback following a session. Can't recommend him highly enough!

My daughter started tutoring with Rob 6 weeks before her 11+ exams. It was clear from the beginning we had struck gold. Rob is a master of pedagogy, not all teachers are. My daughter was able to achieve so much in such a short amount of time and went on to receive offers and waitlists from all 5 of the London day schools she applied for. So, not only did they achieve the short term outcome but my daughter has grown and flourished in confidence and ability beyond expectation. We have asked Rob to teach my older child now too as the GSCE's slowly come into view.

I couldn't recommend Rob enough to anyone looking to help their children old or young achieve their goals. Both my kids adore him and when the time comes when they no longer need his help we all hope he'll still stop by for a cup of tea.

Rob has been a lifesaver for us! My son was very resistant to any form of creative writing. Rob immediately built up a great rapport with him and built his confidence by using themes that my son loves, such as Star Wars. My son is now at secondary school and wishes he could do more creative writing!
Rob also spent time working with my daughter on Spanish and, again, gauged exactly the right way to get the best out of her.
Rob is extremely professional, but also a joy to have around. We can not recommend him highly enough.

John has helped our son so much. Within a year, he has become a little boy who 'gets' numbers and has a sound baseline from which to build on. Before working with John our son really struggled with basic mathematical concepts. John has not only helped with the practical learning of maths but has also built up a wonderful rapport with our son who looks forward to working with John every week. I would recommend John to anyone whose child needs a very personal, friendly approach and especially for children whose confidence may be low due to struggling with the subject at school.

Rob helped me refresh my level of writing from a GCSE level.

I am a 23 year old who struggled with writing as a native speaker. The tutoring helped bring up my level in order to pass a series of tests for my job.

Rob is energetic and extremely easy to get along with. I would recommend him to anyone of any age.

Rob/John has been teaching our son since September 2017 in preparation for his GCSEs in the spring. Already the teachers at our son's school have been impressed with the progress he has made since being tutored. Rob is a fantastic tutor, he completely gets our son and makes learning together something that our son enjoys and looks forward to.

Rob (he is known by his middle name rather than his 1st - John) is absolutely brilliant and so much more than we could ever have asked for as a tutor for my son, Louis (now aged 12). Rob has tutored Louis since September 2016 as he was preparing for his Y7 entrance exams and really struggling with maths. He totally lacked confidence in the subject and was overwhelmed. Working closely with Rob from Sept '16 to the entrance exams in Jan '17, Louis became much more confident and able to deal with the academic challenges and exam pressures and successfully secured a place in his preferred school. There is no question that Rob's tutoring excellence as well as his nurturing and positive influence (and having the patience of a Saint!) helped to secure this offer. Such has been the impact that Rob has had with Louis that he continues to see him on a regular basis. They have developed such a fantastic relationship and Louis is able to ask Rob's assistance with specific maths subjects as well as more general homework/revision challenges. In addition, Rob is a really nice, genuine guy; he is punctual, reliable, flexible and, crucially, adaptable in his teaching methods. Rob has a no nonsense, straight talking approach which, for both parent and student, is invaluable. Louis finds it difficult to stay focussed for prolonged periods of time and Rob has developed a method of teaching with him which keeps Louis Interested and focussed. Louis has even described maths as being 'fun' with Rob (shame Louis doesn't give the same feedback with school maths!) I strongly recommend Rob as a tutor and wish that we could see him every day such is the hugely positive influence which he has on Louis.

We are three sessions in and my grandson, who is 8 ,is not only improving his maths but also loving the tutoring . John is a brilliant at engaging his interest and keeping him focused on learning .Not an easy task usually !

Rob tutored our son for a few months in preparation for 11+ exams and has been amazing at it! Although we have now stopped the lessons due to moving country, we have seen great progress in our son's abilities. Rob has been very methodical and able to recognise our son's weak areas and work on them. He particularly helped our son in his creative writing tasks! We couldn't recommend Rob more. We would be reaching out to him again if we need to in the future.

Excelent work in preparing my daughter for her 11+ entrance exam (English and Math). Knowledgeable, great in explaining and keeping her interested in the subjects. Great manner and dedication, always punctual and extreamely reliable. Would not wish for a different tutor in this important time for our daughter.

Rob has been my tutor for AS AQA Drama Theory for nearly three months now and I am thrilled with the progress I have made thanks to our lessons. Rob is an encouraging and engaging teacher and his lessons have allowed me to improve from a grade C to consistent A's in a fraction of time. I cannot recommend him enough for anyone who is looking for a one to one tutor in order to boost their grades.
