I am a recent graduate of Birmingham Conservatoire where I studied jazz saxophone.I started playing Clarinet before switching to saxophone and have Grade 7 ABRSM Clarinet, as well as Grade 5 ABRSM Theory. I also have Music and Music Technology A Levels. Recently I have been exploring folk music through playing whistle and I am currently in the process of teaching myself the basics of playing the flute.
I can teach saxophone from a complete beginner level to a high standard, and can also help students through their ABRSM graded exams. I can also teach practical musical theory as it applies to playing, improvising and composing music, as well as for ABRSM Theory exams. In addition to this I can teach clarinet from a beginner level to Grade 5 ABRSM standard.
As a young musician I would like to teach in order to share my enthusiasm for all kinds of music, from rock and pop to folk, jazz and classical. My specialism is in Jazz and improvisation and I can teach the basics of harmony and music theory through practical examples, and teach instrumental technique with a creative approach as well as through grades and reading music. I have a breadth of musical education experience to draw on which means I can tailor lessons to an individuals interests or learning objectives, as well as assessing areas for improvement and development.
