Hi! I'm Ruby, an undergrad maths student with a passion for building confidence and explaining maths in the most accessible ways I can. As a woman in maths I know how easy it can be for any student, but particularly girls, to lose that self-belief when it comes to maths exams. Whether it be a stepping stone to the next stage in their education, or an interest they want to explore, I aim to help every student go into their maths exams ready and prepared (and ideally with as little fear as possible!).
As a sixth form student, I aided GCSE girls with their revision in after school clubs. It was great to be able to work closely with students, understand what was going wrong and finding a solution. Now as a university student, I work closely with my department to offer outreach classes to local schools. During these sessions, I take students through intuitive explanations of mathematical concepts, and help students learn by doing.
Despite its reputation, anyone and everyone can access maths, we just have to find how it clicks. Every student will approach maths differently, and my goal will be to work through examples, exam questions and maths concepts in whichever way works best for a student. As a visual learner myself, I will work on an online interactive whiteboard to help aid explanations.
