Private Maths and English Tuition in Sidcup

I have been a qualified teacher for 18 years including getting graded as outstanding by OFSTED. I have been tutoring now for 2 1/2 years and have seen pupils gain entry into private schools, pass the 11+, catch up to age related expectations and most importantly gain skills and confidence. I offer primary home school teaching, holiday workshops, English, Maths, Reading, entrance exams and 11+ tuition and also entry level, foundation GCSE and beginner flute and piano lessons. I have expertise working with children who have special needs in primary and secondary school and teach all subjects therefore if there is something else you require then please ask.

I am a mum of three children. We are a musical family who also love family, camping, swimming and creative arts. I can play the flute, piano, violin and love singing.

Tutoring Experience

I am a qualified SENCo and have had leadership roles including maths and literacy lead, SENCo and Assistant Head Teacher for 7 years and worked in mainstream and three Special Needs Settings ranging from early years to post 16. I have taught all age groups in mainstream education from Nursery to year 6 especially the examination year groups and have vast experience working with children who have special needs. In my free time I have volunteered for charities providing holiday activities for children with special needs.

Tutoring Approach

I have a reassuring, approachable style of teaching using simple techniques to improve children's understanding of difficult concepts. I like to increase children's enjoyment of learning by making sessions interesting for each individual student and increase their confidence and personal belief in themselves in order to engage, challenge and stretch the pupils and help them to see their progress and achievements to motivate them further.
