I have been tutoring for over 10 years. I hold Qualified Teacher Status and also used to be a governor at a large academy trust. While I was a teacher my classes regularly achieved value-add scores of +2. This means that their exam results (SATs and GCSEs) were on average a full 2 grades higher than expected.
Extensive experience with GL Assessments and CEM tests for 11+ Maths, English, verbal and non-verbal reasoning tests.
I have a Masters in Maths from Cambridge University, in which I took quantum physics courses as well as maths, and a Masters in Financial Maths from Warwick University, in which I achieved a distinction.
Teacher in a London inner-city school, tutor for over 10 years, school governor for 3 years.

My approach is tailored to the needs of each student. Some pupils prefer to learn by achieving a deeper understanding of the underlying concepts, whereas others prefer memorisation of formulae and algorithms. These two approaches can be informally described as "why to do stuff" vs "how to do stuff", respectively. Both approaches can be efficacious, and I see a large part of my job as being able to identify which of the two a student has a preference for (they may not even know, at first), and lean my tuition in that direction (but not exclusively, since any good pedagogical method necessarily has to incorporate elements of both).
