I am a qualified science (and mathematics) teacher with an extensive, good teaching and extra tuition record.
I have a great flare for animation, drama and the arts prompting creativity and fun into my lessons/sessions.
Whatever the subject or topic, my aim is simple - to help open the mind and get that Eureka moment where you can almost hear the penny drop.
I have past teaching experience from an Independent school, an 'outstanding Ofsted graded' school and various other Comprehensive schools.
My most recent teaching appointments have been where my focus spanned not only on academics, but also the 'hidden curriculum as it were. For example, working with students on effective study skills, improving work ethics, a focus on literacy and numeracy across the board and confidence building.
With vast experience of working in different roles, over many years, I am an experienced Educator and Mental Health professional. I am particularly adept in the sciences, mathematics, the Gifted and Talented, SEND, ASD, MLD, SLD, ADHD, and SEMH along with other complex needs. I am professional and proficient, and very driven by 'The Best Outcome for Individuals', student attainment, and holistic wellbeing care; and/or management and treatment of mental well-being.
My slots have been filling up, but I do still have availability.
I try and tailor my tutoring approach and strategies used to my tutees individual needs. After all, all people are unique, with specific needs, and as such, what works for one, may not be best for another.
Some approaches and strategies that I do deploy (amongst many others), include, the use of models and practical demonstrations (where possible); creativity; relating topics to every day experiences; humour; confidence building exercises; SMART target setting; homework setting and informative feedback provided.
I am always open for an initial free chat and assessment. I believe it is very important to check if the tutor is right for your or your child's needs. Please feel free to get in touch.
