I am a caring, good-humoured person with strong interpersonal skills. Throughout my teaching experiences and as a class teacher, I have been described as both inspirational and motivational to the students I have had the privilege to work with.
I receive many tutoring requests through word of mouth, which is really important to me, as recommendations only come from people who are extremely happy themselves and are keen to share their own experiences.
By completing my teaching degree at university as a mature student, I was able to enhance it with life experiences enriching my contribution to the teaching profession. During this time I had the opportunity to specialise in mathematics and have since been able to develop this specialism further as a highly skilled practitioner, sharing my continued passion and vast experience within schools and with the students I tutor.

Tutoring Experience

Having taught maths and English to students from reception to year 11, both online and face to face, I ensure that the learning of all students is personalised to them. I work very quickly with individuals to boost self-confidence where necessary and build on prior learning, at whatever level that might be. My roles within school and as part of the senior leadership team, have allowed me to share my expertise across the whole school, working with staff and training teachers to ensure all children then experience greater opportunities for understanding and make connections in their learning.

Tutoring Approach

Students come to me for various reasons. Many are struggling or getting lost in class, needing extra support to move forward. Some lack confidence or have misconceptions which can hinder understanding. Many students aren’t being challenged enough and are capable of achieving far more, needing help to reach their full potential.

Exams can be a tricky time, from mid-year, end of year, times tables, SPaG, 11 plus, SAT’s iGCSE’s or GCSE’s. By developing and applying learning, working through and unpicking what is expected and understanding how to deal with exam questions, my students achieve far greater results.
