I am a third-year student at the University of Bristol studying for my Master's in Mathematics.

I used to hate maths, so I can relate to those who don't have it as their favourite subject. However, during lockdown, I looked ahead online and fell in love with it. In school, Maths is taught as something rigid with a right and a wrong. This can give the wrong impression to students. Furthermore, its mandatory nature can feel like a chore, dissuading exploration of the subject. Although built from truth, Maths can be a very playful and creative subject. Moreover, whether we realise it or not, Mathematics is behind almost everything in our lives.

Tutoring Experience

I have been teaching GCSE & A-Level Maths and Further Maths privately for four years.

Tutoring Approach

I teach my sessions online, each is unique to best suit my tutee's needs. For example, some prefer to work through the problems on paper, explaining their reasoning as they go, while I write a model answer for them to copy. However, most prefer to work through the problems directly with me on the shared whiteboard.

I try to explain things in multiple ways so my tutees can develop a strong intuition for the mathematical concepts. I use methods not necessarily taught in school which massively simplify problems and still receive full marks.

I teach each tailored session over Teams or WhatsApp and use Lucidspark for the shared whiteboard.

Typically, each session lasts an hour but I am open to doing longer sessions.

I enjoy maths tutoring because I love turning difficult problems into something very doable for my students. It is always very rewarding to see a huge improvement in their problem-solving skills after only a few sessions.
