I love helping students of all ages and abilities to become more confident English speakers through fun, relevant and interesting activities. My specialist area is Medical English and helping healthcare professionals prepare for the OET (Occupational English Test). I have a degree in medicine and spent ten years working in the NHS before taking a career break to raise my family. During this time we spent some time living outside the UK and my passion for learning a different language and then teaching began to develop; I’ve now been teaching English online for 6 years. When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my family, getting out in nature, reading and travelling. I’m still learning French and Spanish myself and try to practise and improve a little every day.

Tutoring Experience

I have a Cambridge English Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other languages (CELTA) and have been teaching students of all ages and abilities online since 2019 on Skype, Zoom and Teams both one-to-one and in small groups. Over the last two years I have been developing my skills in preparing students for exams including Linguaskills, IELTS and OET.

Tutoring Approach

I tailor my classes to your individual needs and help you to reflect on your strengths and areas that need more practise so you can self-direct your learning. During the classes I focus more on speaking and listening practice as this is the area most learners feel less confident in but I also encourage you to read and write in English both in class and in your own time for us to review together. My role is to support you to become more confident using English and provide resources and tools to help you do this more effectively. I look forward to meeting you in the online classroom to share your journey learning English.
