I am an experienced, confident and passionate English teacher who values the art of learning. I strongly believe that each and every individual has the ability to achieve their full potential and should be supported through a learner centred approach to do so.
I currently work with 11 - 18 year olds teaching GCSE English with AQA and Functional Skills English with Edexcel.
I am also an examiner for both Edexcel and AQA and have marked the new 9-1 GCSE Lit & Lang papers since 2016.
I work with both high achieving students and learners with Special Educational Needs and have taught for over five years in a variety of educational settings.
Learner centred! The learners needs are always at the fore front of how I teach. This involves listening and recognising their needs and strengths, teaching how they learn best and making the learning fun and interesting.
I am patient, encouraging and eager to see young people achieve.

**When I first contacted Sarah to tutor my son in GCSE English, I could tell instantly that she was the right person for him. Zach is a typical teenage boy, not always forthcoming with conversation however, Sarah's very easygoing personality put him at ease instantly.
Sarah took the time to speak to him to understand what approach was needed and how he felt he needed assistance. Confidence was always an issue but after a short while I could see that he was starting to believe that he was more able than he thought!
Sarah's lesson's seemed structured and well thought out each week. She was always understanding and flexible when needed. Zach achieved an A in Language and a B in Literature this summer.
I would have no hesitation in recommending Sarah as a tutor.**
