I am a dedicated and passionate English tutor with a first-class degree in English Literature from the University of Exeter and a TEFL qualification. I have been tutoring children for over 10 years, helping them develop their English skills and supporting them through exams such as GCSEs and SAT verbal reasoning. Currently, I work as an online tutor on Palfish, where I maintain a 5-star rating and teach students aged 3-18, many of whom return for regular lessons.

Before focusing on teaching, I worked as a detective in the police for five years, successfully building prosecution cases and securing convictions for serious offenses. I achieved 97% in my detective exam, earning an award for being the best student, and completed a first-class degree in Policing at the University of Portsmouth.

Beyond tutoring, I have a strong passion for literature, particularly wartime history and dystopian fiction. I also love music and animals, regularly volunteering at animal sanctuaries and exploring nature in my free time.

With my experience, academic background, and enthusiasm for teaching, I am committed to helping students develop confidence and proficiency in English. Tutoring Experience

Before each lesson, I prefer to communicate with the student to understand their desired focus. This allows me to tailor all content specifically to their needs, ensuring that every session is relevant, targeted, and beneficial to their learning goals.

I take an interest in my students’ lives and encourage a positive learning atmosphere. For some, this means making lessons fun and interactive, incorporating humor and energy to stimulate engagement. Others, particularly shy or reserved learners, may prefer a calm and structured approach with minimal distraction. I adjust my teaching style accordingly, ensuring that every student feels supported and able to learn at their own pace.

By recognizing that every learner is different and preparing lessons based on their individual goals, I create sessions that are both effective and enjoyable. Whether helping a student prepare for an exam or guiding them through learning English as a second language, my goal is always to boost their confidence and help them develop skills that will benefit them beyond the classroom.
