Private Online Maths Tutor

Welcome!

I am a data scientist in the energy sector. This means that I apply maths, statistics and programming to problems related to the electricity grid. I hold an MSc in Operational Research (think, applied maths!) from the University of Edinburgh, a BSc in pure maths from the University of Warwick, and 4 years of prior analytics experience working at Specsavers and Dunelm.

A long-time member of the Scout Association, I was a Scout Leader during my time at uni. I am always learning new things: piano and Italian are my latest challenges.

Tutoring Experience

I've tutored 9 students within the last 3 years at levels from foundation GCSE up to undergraduate degree level.

Prior to formal tutoring, I mentored groups of 11-16 year olds through the Sutton Trust Scholars programme, whilst I was a student at the University of Warwick, and worked on STEM-specific summer schools for Year 10 and Year 12 students.

I am close friends with a group of secondary school maths/science teachers and enjoy frequent discussions on how best to cover topics and on the curriculum.

In my working life, I am the go-to person for the team to brush up on their maths and statistics!

Tutoring Approach

No single style of learning works for everyone, so it is important to be adaptable and cater the learning to you.

Together, we will spot misconceptions and gaps in knowledge then focus on these areas to improve understanding. Maths more than other subjects is cumulative, success this year relies on strong foundations.

Wherever helpful, we will relate to real-world examples to make concepts clear.
