I graduated at the University of York with a first class masters in mathematics. I was awarded the P.B.Kennedy prize for achieving the highest grade in my academic year. For the past 2 years I have worked part time as a graduate teaching assistant at the University of Manchester leading undergraduate seminars and assisting professors with teaching. This is where I developed a passion for teaching and seeing young minds develop. I now tutor mathematics to students at the GCSE and A-level standard. I am moving away from the Manchester area in April, therefore only taking on students on an online or short term basis.
I worked graduate teaching assistant at the University of Manchester for 18 months, leading undergraduate seminars and mentoring students individually as well as in a group setting. I have now moved on to a career in software development but enjoy using my knowledge of mathematics to tutor the upcoming generations.
I teach students to be problem solvers, by first establishing mathematical techniques and then letting students explore how and when different methods should be applied through a variety of practice questions. I look to empower the student by challenging them with difficult questions where students are likely to make mistakes as I believe this is when students learn and develop the most.
