Hi guys!
I am a full time actuarial consultant with a Big 3 employer (multinational consultancy), and I hold associate (AIA) qualification. I have done tutoring in the past and have decided to offer my tutoring services again (evenings and weekends)
I hold a Masters degree in Materials Science (Biomaterials) from Cambridge University where I studied on a prestigious Gates Cambridge Scholarship (awarded to top performing students from all over the world to undertake postgraduate study at Cambridge University).
I graduated top of my year with 1st class BEng in Biomaterials Science and Tissue Engineering from Sheffield University for my undergrad. I did my A-levels at Kaplan College in Sheffield (Biology-A*, Chemistry-A, Maths-A*, Physics-A) where I graduated top of my year and was awarded scholarship to study at Sheffield University.
I studied Biomaterials Science because I enjoyed its multidisciplinary nature that encompasses engineering, biology, physics, chemistry and of course mathematics.
After graduating from Cambridge I have then decided to progress my career as an actuarial consultant, not least because I like math, enjoy working with people.
I have acquired teaching experience in my role as a teaching assistant for GCSE and A-level biology, mathematics, chemistry and physics at Kaplan College in Sheffield during my undergrad. Following my graduation I taught A-level maths class at the college and moderated exam papers in biology, chemistry and physics, before starting my course at Cambridge. While at Cambridge I have done part-time tutoring alongside my Masters degree.
I thoroughly enjoy studying and have a great passion for exact sciences. In my view everybody has the capacity to understand and enjoy sciences, after all learning sciences is more often fun than not! That is probably why I enjoy getting through my actuarial exams so much!
I believe that any material, no matter how advanced could and in fact should be explained in the simplest terms possible, without unnecessary complexities.
In turn, the basis of a successful learning strategy is always a strong understanding of fundamentals, reinforced by practice and exercises.
These are the aspects that I utilise in my teaching work.
Additionally, from my educational background I have acquired valuable experience in University entrance applications (including preparing successful scholarship applications and interviews) and I am happy to share my knowledge and experience.
