English and History Lessons in Hounslow

In search of a tutor, who is willing to go above and beyond, to ensure that you achieve your desired grades? With your first lesson being free of charge, I offer intimate, one-to-one lessons, during which I teach English Literature, Language and History. Together, you and I can explore a range of learning methods and revision techniques that will ultimately lead to your academic success!

Hello! My name is Sheila and I am currently studying History (BA) at King’s College London. As a vocal advocate for further education, I firmly believe that resilience combined with one-on-one support is the ultimate key to academic success. I am also aware of how in most secondary schools, teachers have limited time to dedicate to each child as they teach larger classes. By focusing on my student's individual needs and goals, I hope to utilise private, more intimate learning zones to ensure that each child receives the attention they need and deserve to succeed.

Whilst I continue my undergraduate studies, I tutor children and young people in English Language, Literature and History. Having achieved A*A A in the A-level subjects History, English Literature and Drama and Theatre Studies, I have navigated through the ups and downs of preparing for challenging exams and am hoping to pass my wisdom and experience to younger students.

Tutoring Experience

With over three years of tutoring experience, I have mastered the art of curating bespoke lesson plans and study trackers for each of my individual students. As an eager and enthusiastic tutor, I endeavour to make learning a dynamic and fun-filled task so my students and I can look forward to our time together.

Although my tutoring journey began with my position as Junior Tutor at the Kumon Learning Centre, I would say that my wealth of expertise actually stems from my role as an online GCSE English Language and Literature Tutor with Seneca Learning. Whilst teaching via the Discord app, I was able to help them excel in their writing and analytical skills whilst making our remote lessons engaging and enjoyable. From boosting grades to nailing revision techniques, I take great pride in teaching and hope to make my lessons a helpful yet enjoyable experience for the both of us.

Tutoring Approach

My personal approach to tutoring involves constructing detailed lesson and revision plans that consider my students’ personal goals. By incorporating tailored activities and real-life examples, I combine visual and auditory learning techniques. This helps my students to consolidate the information we go over together during our lessons.

To ensure that my students’ hard work is demonstrated through their exam results, I encourage active revision techniques such as memory recall and going over sample exam questions.

Central to my tutoring philosophy is my belief in independent as well as social learning. To each and every one of my students, I emphasise the importance of completing the lesson prep that I set at the end of each of my sessions.

That being said, I also strive to demonstrate ways in which my students can learn through teaching themselves and those around them. To give you an example, I regularly provide my students with an opportunity to teach me what they have learnt, by themselves, so that they feel a sense of responsibility when it comes to their learning.

If my tutoring approach appeals to you, I strongly suggest that we begin learning together. With my experience and your desire to learn, our collaboration will lead to you achieving your desired grades.
