Shivani

Biology and Study Skills Tutoring in Wrexham

Hi, I'm Shivani. I am a dedicated lecturer and PhD researcher in Forensic Anthropology with years of academic and teaching experience. I specialise in Biology, Anatomy, Forensic Science, Thesis Preparation and Biomedical Science across GCSE, A-Level, and university level.

With a strong foundation in science through a BSc in Biomedical Science and two MSc degrees, I bring both academic expertise and real-world relevance to every lesson. I take pride in delivering well-structured, engaging sessions tailored to each student’s learning style and goals. I am dyslexic myself, but have learnt over the years how to adjust my revision techniques.

You can expect a friendly, patient, and professional approach, with a focus on building confidence, deepening understanding, and achieving academic success. Whether you're preparing for exams or looking to strengthen subject knowledge, I’m here to support you every step of the way.

Tutoring Experience

I’ve taught at university as a sessional lecturer, delivered science outreach sessions in schools (GCSE and A-Level), and supported students (undergraduate and master's students) in both academic and applied settings. My teaching is informed by real experience in the classroom and my background in science communication.

I’ve completed a Level 4 Introduction to Teaching course, which has helped shape my student-centred approach. My lessons are clear, interactive, and tailored to individual needs—designed to build confidence, curiosity, and subject mastery.

I have experience in teaching neurodivergent children (aged 4-14) how to play tennis for over 12 years with learning difficulties such as autism, dyslexia and ADHD.

Whether you're aiming to improve grades, prepare for exams, or explore science in more depth, I provide a friendly and professional learning space to help you achieve your goals.

Tutoring Approach

My approach to teaching is student-centred, supportive, and adaptable. I believe that learning should feel engaging and empowering, not overwhelming. I tailor each session to suit the student’s learning style, pace, and goals—whether that’s mastering core content, building exam confidence, or exploring complex ideas in more depth.

I use a mix of visual resources, active recall, real-world case studies, and clear explanations to make scientific concepts easier to understand and remember. I encourage questions, discussion, and critical thinking to help students truly connect with the material. I can make PowerPoint slides with resources and notes for the student to have a copy, and we can discuss each concept. If this is not the preferred way to learn, I am open to alternative ways. This is your session!

Most importantly, I create a calm, encouraging space where students feel comfortable making mistakes, asking for help, and developing confidence in their abilities.
