Simms

I am Simms, a recent graduate from Ulster University with a PhD in microbiology/ microbial biotechnology.

I aim to deliver a high-quality standard of tutoring to help students understand study contents, build their confidence, improve their approach/ technique to answering exam questions, and overall achieve academic excellence and become independent critical thinkers.

Tutoring Experience

I have taught biology/ microbiology in-person and online since 2019 as part of my doctoral training as well as on other online tutoring platforms; hence, giving me the requitisit experience to offer quality tutoring in subject areas such as biology, microbiology, chemistry, physics, general science, and maths, which are my real passion.

I have also completed my postgraduate teaching assistant course and have achieved the status of Associate Fellow For High Education Academy (AFHEA), giving me the necessary qualification to teach.

I possess extensive writing, analysis, and proofreading skills to assist BSc, MSc, and PhD students with assignments, and project work.

Tutoring Approach

My teaching methodology is student-focused as I allow students to freely decide which areas they need help the most. Following the delivery of lesson content, I take students through exam-style questions and provide them with assignments before the end of class.

My first lesson is delivered free of charge to understand the needs of students and the possible ways to assist them.

I look forward to supporting students at the primary, GCSCE, A Levels, undergraduate, and MSc levels in the above-mentioned subject areas of interest and related matters such as the right approach to studying, guidance on university applications, assistance with completing assignments/ homework, as well as exam preparation.
