I am a fully qualified language teacher (UCL) with 9 years experience working in London secondary schools. I have taught at all levels, from Year 7 through to A Level and have experience with the requirements of various exam boards. Having learned four languages myself over the years, (3 at A-Level) I understand how challenging but also how rewarding language learning can be.

My lessons are always very well prepared and tailored to my students' particular needs. I like us to build a good relationship while getting the job done and making strong and measurable progress for my students. Seeing my students make real progress and grow in confidence is the most rewarding part of my job.

Tutoring Experience

I hold a degree in German and European Studies from University College Cork, Ireland and a PGCE in Secondary Modern Foreign Languages from University College London. Over my 9 years of teaching experience I have taught German and French in two secondary comprehensive schools in Redbridge and Hertfordshire, a leading grammar school in Enfield and I am currently teaching in a private school in Hampstead.

Tutoring Approach

I will first have a friendly and open conversation
with my student to understand how they feel about the subject and where their specific needs lie. Seeing some previous work they have completed is very helpful at this early stage. Based on this, and also how close they are to their exams, I will create a specific and tailored teaching plan. I always ensure my lessons are highly productive. Grammar is broken down into logical steps, high-level structures are taught and reinforced for use in writing and speaking and vocabulary learning skills are encouraged to create a more positive experience in this often tedious task. I set high standards for my students while being as supportive and encouraging as possible. I believe my students enjoy and are motivated by my lessons because they can see from an early stage that they are making good progress.
