As a top IB graduate and the highest-performing student in my first year at the University of Birmingham, I know firsthand what it takes to succeed in rigorous academic programs. Just two years ago, I was in the same position as the students I tutor now, navigating the challenges of IB coursework. I not only excelled in these subjects, but I’ve also spent the past two years helping others do the same. Other fun things about me are that I'm a game designer, and am working on my second card game (keep an eye out at Waterstones). I also am a pianist and guitarist with a passion for everything music. I quite like languages too, and can get my way around about 6 of them. Other than that, I'm a bit of a goofy guy :)
I’ve tutored IB students in Economics, Biology, Chemistry, English A, and Mathematics through Thames British School Online and other platforms. My experience as an Extended Essay supervisor in Economics has strengthened my ability to guide students in structured academic writing and critical analysis. I have also tutored students in High-level Biology and Chemistry, with a focus on internal assessments and written pieces of lab research, teaching them about the scientific approach, and more specifically about correctly producing diagrams, figures, referencing, choosing appropriate research quesitons, and writing concisely but in a detailed manner. I have also tutored students in IB Environmental Systems and Societies (ESS), with focus on exam techniques and past papers, where I helped my students not memorize but understand the concepts so deeply, that they were able to take their grades from 2/7 to 6/7 in the course of three months.
Sincerely,
Soheil Khaledi
I focus on making difficult topics feel approachable by breaking them down in a way that makes sense for each student. Beyond content mastery, I help students develop exam techniques, time management skills, and effective study strategies to maximize their performance. Also having been a student myself, I focus on being an older friend "who has been there" before being a tutor, and help them feel understood in their struggles, because I myself was there just two years ago. Additionally, in regards to exams, I help students understand the mindset of a student who can spend the least time revising and get the highest marks.
