Master of Education Degree with merit from The University of Glasgow. I am a primary teacher with four years of qualified teaching experience with a passion for both English and Maths. I am a patient, fun and interactive teacher and I want to help ensure young people are reaching their full potential.
I have worked as a primary teacher of children aged 7-11 in the last four years and have extensive understanding of curriculum requirements in both Maths and English; and know how to breakdown learning in each benchmark to ensure retention and understanding.
Children do not learn in the same ways and so my approach is to get to know my pupils and find out what strategies work for them. Whether they are someone who requires concrete resources, or someone who learns through pictures and visual aids, or someone who is more of an abstract thinker. For example in maths, are you someone who needs counters or hundred squares to count? Or are you someone who has to draw a pictorial images such as a number line or a grid. Or are you an abstract thinker? Do you partition numbers in your head, use rounding and inverse operations to solve problems. For example 14 + 29 - would you add on 30 and subtract 1 instead? Let’s figure out your learning style and then let me adapt to you. I will teach you in a way that you prefer to learn.
