Hi, I'm Steph. A friendly, enthusiastic English tutor, specialising in English Literature and knowledgeable in all things English! I have a passion for sharing knowledge and helping students to move forward in their studies. It gives me a great sense of achievement to see students gaining confidence and levelling up with their English skills.

I also have a TEFL qualification so I can help students whose first language is not English to further their skills and achieve excellence!

In our first sessions we will establish goals and outcomes so that we can keep these in mind and work towards them together. This makes it easier to track progress and identify areas that need more focus. We will look at your learning style and tailor your sessions so that they meet your individual needs.

Tutoring Experience

Throughout my university studies, I mentored and tutored a number of peers, helping with group study and mentoring individuals on essay writing skills, etc. Since my studies, I have tutored individuals in English and Academic Writing skills. I also have a TEFL qualification and experience teaching English as a Foreign Language online.

In addition to GCSE, A Level and Undergraduate level students, I have worked with children on both a one to one and group basis at a local Manchester primary school, helping to improve their reading and comprehension skills.

Furthermore, I have worked within Higher Education for a number of years at a number of Universities (including UCL) and, as such, I am familiar with the strict requirements in place for students competing to be admitted into University as well as the pressures of student life and study. In this way, as well as tutoring, I can provide advice on organising and prioritising study.

Tutoring Approach

From my experience as a student and tutor, I have found that the most important thing is the ability to inspire confidence to empower students in their studies. I like to take a creative approach and encourage curiosity and individuality.
