I am an experienced English teacher and have been teaching for over thirty years. I have taught the full secondary range including A Level English Literature. I also have a Masters in Education. I have had three daughters who have successfully 'gone through' the education system and I know how stressful this can be for both students and parents. It is my aim to try and alleviate that pressure.
I currently teach full time and but am available in the evenings and weekends. I have also been a GCSE English Language Examiner for over 20 years and have a great insight into how students can achieve their best grades.
Throughout my teaching career, I have taught English Language and Literature in a number of secondary schools in London, Boston, Peterborough and March. I have taught across the full age and ability range. I have had students who have successfully achieved their target grades and a number of students who have excelled and achieved A* at both GCSE and A Level Literature. I have been an English examiner for over twenty years and I am familiar with AQA, Edexcel and the IGCSE.
I would describe my teaching approach as child-centred. I always find out what the student already knows through discussion and assessment and then plan lessons to fill in any gaps and structure ways of developing the students' learning and understanding. I would try and gauge what works best for the student and what type of teaching method would enable them to best develop their understanding.
