I am an Oxford graduate who's been tutoring for ~20 years. During that I've also been involved in youth work in various churches. I have a real desire to see young people reach their full potential. Science has been a passion of mine since an early age and I hope I'm able to pass on some of that enthusiasm to my students.
In a job where experience is vital, I've been privileged to tutor students for almost two decades. It's enabled me to build up a good selection of resources, teaching materials and illustrations - as well as a very good working knowledge of the syllabus of all exam boards, including International Baccalaureate.
The focus of my tutoring is three fold. Firstly and most importantly, I love to explain. There is always a big focus on understanding and an explanation of the material specific to the syllabus the student is studying. Yet often the students find that, no matter how well they study the material - exam questions baffle them. So, I like to ensure that there is also time to look at exam technique and approaches to unlocking questions. Finally we address how to eliminate silly mistakes - which cost so many students valuable marks. I get on well with all my students and aim to make the sessions fun as well as educational. Enthusiasm and a sense of self confidence are also things students frequently discover through the sessions.
