Having qualified with a BSc (hons) in Psychology from the University of York in 2001, I continued to complete my MSc in Reading, Language and Cognition whilst teaching A Level Psychology to 16-19 year olds and a BSc (hons) Degree in Social and Behavioural Studies at The University of Hull. I went on to become Head of Psychology in a local Grammar School before venturing into Private Tuition. I have also trained in Complementary Therapies and speak Spanish. I really enjoy working with students one-to-one to help give them the opportunity to develop their confidence, knowledge and ability.
I have taught Psychology for 23 years and was Head of Psychology in a successful Grammar School for 13 years. Since 2011, I have privately tutored students taking the OCR and AQA specifications at A Level. I have also worked as an Assistant Examiner and Team Leader for OCR (A Level and GCSE Level - 11 years experience) and AQA (Paper 1).
My aim is to help you realise your potential as a student of Psychology, whether this is by improving your exam technique or helping you develop your knowledge and application of the subject. I believe practising exam questions is crucial to help develop exam technique and I am happy to mark as many answers as I'm given to help students realise how to improve their answers for exams. I also feel it is beneficial to look at the learning style of individual students to teach in a way that will make more sense to that student.
