I'm an extremely experienced teacher, private tutor and lecturer from A Level to Post-grad level, as well as IB. I am also an international award-winning writer. I have been Head of Economics and Head of PSHE, as well as a housemistress in a boarding school, responsible for the welfare of students aged 13-18. This last position saw me develop a real understanding of the whole student and the role of confidence and self-esteem as crucial underpinnings of exam success.
With a top B.Sc in Economics & Politics, a B.Ed in Economics, and a Masters in Theatre Practice, I have an outstanding 30-year track record of teaching Economics at A Level, IB, Pre-U, Undergrad and Postgrad level, including at the top IB school in the world and one of the best performing A Level schools in the country. I have also tutored privately for ymany ears, with remarkable success. When I was formerly a full-time tutor, I qualified as what was known as a '3-grade improver', raising students' performance by up to 3 exam grades. But whether you want intensive support or just tweaking of your techniques to guarantee those top grades, I would be delighted to fit the program to your individual needs.
It is essential that tutoring is tailored to the very specific needs of the individual student. A considerable number of students are surprised to discover they don't fully understand the basics of Economics, even when they thought they had. This is essential, since they are the building blocks of the subject. So I always make sure these foundations are solid. However, other students simply require refinements of their exam technique, or specific topics to be more clearly explained. In other cases I am often able to identify a Specific Learning Difficulty, and some of my students have gone on to have referrals which have resulted in them getting extra time, laptop use in exams, or some other assistance previously unrecognised as being a need unmet. Each student is individual, and my role is to support them in becoming the best they can be. I love being able to rekindle a passion for Economics in students whose enthusiasm may have waned, and to build on it for those students who have never lost it.
