Taher

My name is Taher Removed. I am an undergraduate student studying Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology at the University of Cambridge. Having gone through the A-Levels and UCAS Process, I understand the what admissions officers are looking for in prospective students as well as what examiners are looking for in exam answers. I have created a set of tools and strategies, that I myself used to achieve three A* results and offers from Cambridge and Imperial College. I enjoy teaching and helping students succeed.

Tutoring Experience

I have previously tutored A-Level and GCSE students - one of which received an offer to read engineering at Cambridge. As for the subjects that I tutor, I can tutor GCSE Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and the latter two for A Level Students.
As part of my college, I am involved in mentoring students in schools across the country who may belong to an under-represented group at Cambridge. This scheme involves me preparing students for the unique admissions process at Cambridge and Target Schools, whether this be by hosting Mock Interviews or going through Mock Admissions Tests such as the NSAA and now the ESAT.

Tutoring Approach

Fortunately, I have had the pleasure to work and mentor quite a few students over the past two years. In this time, I have worked with people who work and operate better using different styles of learning. I believe that visual representations and animations are extremely efficient at delivering difficult content and theories - especially in Physics. When learning, one of the strategies I employed was the exhaustion of past paper resources in conjunction with memorising Flashcards. Going through Past Paper Questions allows the student to experience the style and the tone of questions prior to the exam - in the case of A-Levels - most questions rely on the same method with different numbers of worded questions. Exhausting paper sets allows the student to familiarise themselves with what will and may come up. The use of flashcards and mind-maps can be extremely beneficial as well - I have often set students work to go through sets of flashcards so that key-content and definitions can be learnt to memory.
