Currently I am a confident and professional public speaker, delivering a wide range of interesting and interactive educational talks on wildlife, conservation and the natural world enhancing visitor experience and engagement. This has been since I moved to Scotland five years ago, I am passionate, organised and dedicated, in my spare time I make furniture and smaller pieces from recycled and reclaimed wood.
I spent 10 years teaching in a secondary school in Kent although my degree is in Primary education. I taught History as a main subject but in equal weight Geography, RE and Citizenship along with PSHE, I was lead teacher for the latter two subjects. I was also a pro-active form tutor in a vertical tutoring system. I have also experience of teaching a wide variety of abilities from visually impaired through to the many forms of ASD, ADHD and social behavioral difficulties.
My approach to teaching is pupil centered, everyone learns in a different way and this should be embraced for them to get the most out of their learning, I also believe that learning isn't all about how many words there are on a page but how many questions are asked and answered and the enthusiasm shown by the pupil or student. A happy and engaged learner is an effective learner.
