I love science. Learning science sparks curiosity and teaches us to explore and investigate the world around us. I still remember the exact moment science 'clicked' for me at school—it ignited my passion for the subject, and I have my science teacher to thank for that. Their influence inspired me to become a teacher myself.
I taught science in secondary schools for 10 years, helping students engage with complex concepts and develop their understanding of the world. I’ve also trained as a coach to bring different learning methodologies to my teaching, ensuring that every learner’s unique needs are met.
Every student is different, and I adapt my tutoring to suit their individual goals. I’ve delivered hundreds of exam revision classes—both in groups and one-to-one—focusing on building exam techniques to help students showcase their knowledge and improve their grades.
Beyond the classroom, I’ve spent many years applying science in real-world contexts. This enables me to help students connect scientific theory to everyday situations, giving the subject deeper meaning and making it more relevant to their lives.
My ultimate goal is to inspire students with the same love of science that I discovered, equipping them with the curiosity and skills to explore and succeed.
I was Head of Biology and Head of KS4 Science in my latest teaching role with a consistent track record of improving students' science results across the curriculum. I have ten years' experience teaching in secondary schools, including:
KS3 Science
GCSE Biology
GCSE Chemistry
GCSE Physics
A-level Biology
A-level Chemistry
BTEC Science levels 2 and 3
I encourage my students to be curious and to explore different approaches to understanding complex scientific topics. My aim is to challenge you in a supportive environment where you feel comfortable making mistakes and learning from them. This experimental mindset is essential for progress in science and builds confidence.
Building trust with my students is at the heart of my teaching. It's important that you feel safe to ask questions and openly share what you don’t understand. I actively encourage feedback about your learning preferences so I can adapt my teaching to meet your individual needs.
My teaching process begins by understanding your goals and defining what success looks like for you. Together, we create a tailored plan to achieve these objectives. This may involve revisiting topics and practicing exam techniques, breaking down complex concepts into manageable parts, or connecting ideas to build a broader understanding of scientific principles.
We will regularly review how our sessions are working so you can make continuous progress. This approach helps you to achieve your goals and gives you a strong sense of accomplishment and—most importantly—makes learning enjoyable.
