I am a dedicated tutor specialising in Functional Skills English, from Entry Level 1 through to Level 2, and GCSE English Language. I also have experience tailoring lessons for SEND learners.

I currently work with young people who are outside of mainstream education for various reasons, including SEND needs, behavioural challenges, mental health difficulties, or those awaiting specialist school placements. I pride myself on taking a calm and adaptable approach, creating a supportive environment where students feel comfortable and confident, and believe building strong rapport is the key to their success.

I also have experience working with those within mainstream settings, providing extra tuition to give them the best opportunity at passing their exams.

With a Bachelor’s degree in English Language and Communication with Creative Writing and Journalism, a Master’s degree in Photography, and a PGCE in Post-Compulsory Education, I bring a strong academic foundation alongside hands-on experience in inclusive education. I use this background to develop diverse and creative approaches, ensuring each lesson meets the unique needs of each individual student.

Tutoring Experience

I have worked within Further Education Colleges and as a Self-Employed tutor for various agencies, gaining extensive experience in both classroom and one-to-one settings. Throughout my career, I have taught a diverse range of students, including those in mainstream education, learners with SEND needs, and individuals who require alternative education pathways.

My primary specialism is in GCSE English and Functional Skills English, where I have successfully supported students of varying abilities, helping them develop key literacy skills, build confidence, and achieve their academic goals. I have experience tailoring lessons to suit different learning styles and needs, ensuring that every student receives the personalised support necessary for their success.

Beyond my core subjects, I have also adapted my teaching approach to accommodate learners facing challenges such as anxiety, low engagement, or gaps in prior education. I take pride in creating a positive and encouraging learning environment where students feel supported, motivated, and capable of reaching their full potential.
