Hi! My name is Tommy. I am a modern languages graduate of the University of Cambridge. I tutor French from KS3 to degree level and whilst at school tutored KS3 and GCSE students. Having recently been a student, I understand the difficulties faced when learning a language - but equally how rewarding making progress can be. I can share the tips and tricks I used to achieve an A* in A level French and a First in my degree. I am happy to focus sessions on exam preparation, literature and film, conversational French and anything in between. I make lessons fun and work to boost the student’s confidence through practice and encouragement. As a keen Francophile who lived in France for a year, I bring lots of enthusiasm and nostalgia for the French way of life. I also have experience coaching candidates for the Oxbridge admissions process, so I am happy to share my expertise and run mock interviews.

Tutoring Experience

Having taken my A levels and GCSEs recently (3 A* at A Level and 10 A* at GCSE), I can discuss with you the methods I used to fulfil my potential and empathise with the difficulties in transferring language skills into grades. Being a recent languages' student and having taken up Italian from scratch, I was exposed to different teaching methods on a daily basis and therefore have direct experience of what works best and what is less effective.
