My name is Tim and I was born and grew up in London. After achieving my undergraduate degree in Event Management, I spent time travelling and volunteering in Central America. When I returned to the UK, I relocated to Scotland and started to think about how I could live a fulfilling life. I realised that I wanted to help others through teaching and decided to pursue English language teaching.
Some of my strengths recognised by my peers include: patience, listening, empathy, hardworking, professional, lesson planning, teaching grammar and self-reflection.
I am currently contracted by two companies, delivering online teaching to groups of students overseas. I also have a roster of private students who I teach online in a 1-on-1 setting.
I'm a graduate of the Cambridge Assessment CELTA program. I have completed 120 hours of training and been recognised as a 'highly effective teacher of English Language' by Cambridge Assessment standards. Over the course, I taught 9 lessons to multilingual pre-intermediate and upper-intermediate groups of learners. I taught each lesson over Zoom and learnt how to create engaging materials for online learning whilst using platform features to maximise interactivity.
From A1 to C2, in all skills (Reading, Listening, Speaking, Writing, Vocabulary, Grammar) I can provide world-standard teaching to help you get where you want to be.
To begin with, we will complete a needs analysis together, so I can assess your ability across all the skills of English language. Using that, I will build a plan to get you where you want to be.
I have developed a learner-centred teaching style, which means I will always focus on your needs and listen to how you want to improve. I will get you discovering, practicing and improving your English language all throughout the lesson, at every available opportunity.
I create a handout for every lesson I plan, which means by the end of the lesson you also have a learning resource that you can come back to whenever you need to.
