I am a 2nd year Classics student at the University of Cambridge. Although I came to Cambridge without any knowledge of Ancient Greek I have been on an intensive course to learn it for the past two years meaning I would now happily place my abilities above A-Level in both Greek and Latin. Outside my degree I am a keen runner and otherwise a natural people's person!
One latin client with First Tutors and one private client teaching Latin and KS3 maths and science.
For language I would first ask what specific areas they would like to focus on and then do a crash course on such followed by exercises to test their newly acquired knowledge and to potentially pick up on any other issues that need work. I would also set very relaxed tests for the start of each session to ensure what was studied last session has been learnt satisfactorily.
For the literature based questions I would first engage in a more relaxed conversation about the passage at hand and the various points of discussion it offers. We would then focus in on the mark scheme and see how our previous conversation can be applied to best fit it. Most of the focus would be placed upon the mark scheme since this is unfortunately what GCSEs and A-Levels demand but I do hope I can instill some form of passion for the text as well!
