Maths Lessons in Brighton

Hi, I am an undergraduate Mathematics student at the University of Sussex. I have always held a strong passion for the subject, and have always worked at a high level: achieving 9's in both Maths and Further Maths GCSE and A*'s in their respective A Levels.
In my undergraduate degree I have undertaken research in the field of measure theory and am currently working at a 1st, achieving the highest grade in my cohort in first year.

Tutoring Experience

I have tutored in GCSE Mathematics since 2020 and A Level Mathematics and Further Mathematics since 2022. I have tutored both online and face-to-face.
My tutoring to date has been quite broad, covering topics within pure mathematics, statistics and mechanics. However I am capable and prepared to assist in topics in the realm of decision mathematics (this mostly applies to certain A Level Further maths specifications)

Tutoring Approach

My goal as a tutor is to support students in a way that suits them, and I also aim to build their confidence in self-study and self-reflection. Sometimes the best way to tutor a student is to work through example questions with them, for others they prefer more of a lecture/note-style tuition etc.
Throughout tutoring I also like to discuss exam techniques, as my job is to help them achieve the best grade that they can. Especially considering that I was in their shoes only a few years ago, I have recent first hand experience with the techniques and "exam-style" expected of them. I also, when appropriate, give them a deeper background into the mathematics we are doing (e.g. some of the not so obvious applications of the topic we are discussing) to help foster a curious and excited mathematical mind: I find that curiosity and enjoyment for the subject produces a stronger and happier student.
