Online Tuition for Maths and Physics

My name is Udit, and I am an Engineering Undergraduate at the University of Southampton, going into my second year of this degree! I offer tutoring in Maths up to A-level, and Science and Computer Science up to GCSE.

Tutoring Experience

Although I haven't been an online tutor for a long time (around 6 months now), I had received tutoring myself during my early days, all the way through my GCSE's as well as my A-levels, so as an old tutee myself, I know exactly how it feels being in the shoes of students I currently tutor. This past experience was great, showing me just what a tutor should be like, which helped me avoid mistakes in my current way of tutoring that I otherwise definitely would have made!!

Tutoring Approach

In my eyes, all students have the potential to do well! This is why my approach to tutoring is quite simple, starting with finding the student's weakness. Through discussions with multiple students, I have learned that there are only 2 fundamental problems that students can have with any subject, which are content knowledge or exam papers. This is why at the first session I always ensure we have talked about exactly what the student is struggling with before moving on to how to solve their problem.

Alternatively, if a student is unsure why they aren't doing so well, then it's a mix of both problems, and to figure out which is worse, I try a technique where I give the student an exam paper to attempt, and then have a discussion with them, analysing each answer they gave in order to gain insight on their approach to the question and why they answered it that way.
