I am a friendly, enthusiastic and patient first class maths graduate and I offer private maths tuition up to GCSE. As well as tutoring privately, I work as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant and have done for twelve years. I am passionate about my subject and really love helping children build their confidence and understanding of maths.

Tutoring Experience

I have recent experience tutoring KS3 maths, Functional skills, Foundation level GCSE maths and Higher level GCSE maths.
I also have vast experience of running maths catch-up groups within school.

Tutoring Approach

If the student has particular topics they want to go through or questions they are finding tricky we start with these. Otherwise, I provide a mixture of exam type questions for the student to work through and it soon becomes apparent where weaknesses lie.

Following this, I recap the chosen topics with the student and provide a range of related questions for the student to work through with my assistance. I encourage the student to take a few of the questions to do independently between sessions to consolidate learning.

In maths, recapping and application are key so each session starts with reviewing the student’s independent work and tackling a few mixed questions relating to topics covered in previous weeks.

I feed back what we’ve covered to parents after every session and I encourage continuous feedback from both them and the student.
