Hi! I’m Vicky and I am going into my 4th year of teaching! When I qualified in 2021, I knew this was my calling in life. Teaching is the most rewarding job, and not only do I enjoy what I do, I also love to see the difference I can help make to a child’s life and education. My favourite subject is Maths, as it can be made so fun!

Tutoring Experience

I started teaching (primary) in 2021 and started in year 3. Fast forward 4 years, I am now a year 6 teacher and reading lead for the school. I have taught years 3, 5 and 6. Over the last 6 months I have helped develop a brand new reading curriculum for the school, so not only understand the importance of a good, structured lesson, but also the pedagogies behind it.

Tutoring Approach

When teaching, I always aim for my lessons to be specific and straight to the point. There is nothing worse than a slow build up in a lesson. I ensure the lesson steps are clear and modelling is broken down into very simple steps. I mainly use flip charts and whiteboards as there’s nothing better than seeing something in the flesh. I also use numerous pictorial and concrete resources for maths, and the use of WAGOLLS for Maths, English and Reading.
