I am a qualified teacher from Argentina and have been teaching Spanish in the UK since 2002. I am originally from Mendoza, the beautiful mountain region in the west of Argentina, where I trained as a teacher of English as a Foreign language.
Before coming to the UK, I taught English in Argentina for three years. I worked in primary and secondary schools and also in language academies for adults. In 2002 I spent eight months in Alaska in an exchange programme teaching Spanish in a primary school. I then went to Reading to work in a secondary school and taught from beginners to A-levels for six years. As I worked, I converted my teaching degree from Argentina and gained Qualified Teacher Status for the UK. Then I moved into Oxford to work in a boarding school as the Head of Spanish for 8 years until I got married and started teaching privately.
I aim to make learning fun in a relaxed atmosphere and always encourage students to express themselves the best way they can. I use a variety of interesting resources including films, music and literature. I make sure the level is right to help students progress smoothly and effectively and always give lots of opportunities for practicing the new language.
