Experienced French teacher - native speaker - 20 years' experience, Masters and Batchelors degrees in French.
I have lived and worked across France, where I was born, and the UK, where I spent over 20 years in London and Oxford, as well as the US and Germany. In this time I have taught hundreds of students from around the world, including pre-GCSE and home-schooled students, scholarship candidates, university undergraduates and adult learners.
I am a professional online French teacher (not a part-time tutor) currently living in France, in Haute-Savoie near Geneva. I have a BA from the Université de Bourgogne and an MA from University College London. Teaching is the only thing I do because I enjoy it, and my students enjoy learning with me.
In 2023 I completed my MA in Language, Culture and History; French and Francophone Studies, University College London, and before that I completed my BA in applied foreign languages: English German, Economics and International law (Licence Langues Étrangères Appliquées) at the Université de Bourgogne.
I have 20 years' experience in teaching for specific objectives, including:
• Homeschooled students
• Scholarship preparation for independent schools such as Westminster, Eton, Winchester, Harrow, Cheltenham, Charterhouse, Wellington etc.
• UK-based French exams including the 11-plus, Common Entrance, GCSE, AS-level, A-Level, Pre-U, International Baccalaureate IB, the CNED programme, and IGCSE.
• All UK exam boards: AQA, OCR, EDEXCEL, CIE, WJEC.
• US highschool French exams such as Advanced Placement (AP) etc.
• preparation for official certifications such as DELF and DALF diplomas, TCF and TEF exams, for example for French citizenship.
regular conversation for those who already speak some French, for example those who travel to France intermittently.
As well as preparing students for exams I also regularly design courses of learning over several months, for example for home-schooled students, adult learners, and younger children.
All of my students studying for exams achieve the grades they are aiming for. At the same time I try to enthuse my students with some of the history and culture of France.
I fix my rates for private teaching at those of the Alliance Francaise in London. I think these are reasonable for an equivalent level of teaching experience, and significantly below those of the Institut Francaise in London.
I offer the first session for free in order to meet you, discuss your learning needs and plan our future sessions.
