I moved to Norfolk 21 years ago having lived in London previously I am married and have 2 children and 5 grandchildren who keep me busy. I enjoy living in the countryside and am a keen gardener.

Tutoring Experience

I am an experienced private tutor having taught for the last 30 years in London and now Norfolk. I enjoy teaching one to one as I believe that it is most rewarding way to encourage students to express themselves and gain confidence in a subject with which they have previously struggled. However, I welcome those students who hope to achieve excellent results in order to gain entry into very good universities. I am an Open University Lecturer in English, Philosophy and History and History of Art which I have done for the last 19 years. I have also taught at Further Education Colleges gaining knowledge of all Education Boards and have a thorough understanding of the Syllabus for all of my subjects. I am widely read in all my subjects and keep abreast of all new research and changes in approach to examinations and learning.

Tutoring Approach

I believe that the best approach to tutoring is to tailor a programme of work which is suitable for the students but at the same time connects to the work being carried out at school. For tutoring in examinations, it is necessary for the student to have a complete understanding of what is required and I therefore work from past papers in order to buildi up confidence in the subject being taken. I am passionate about the subjects I teach and feel that my knowledge coupled with enthusiasm will be able to help students achieve their potential. I am approachable and have a relaxed attitude to teaching as in my experience I know that forcing a pupil to work can have an adverse effect.
