My name is William, a professional tutor with over 12 years experience teaching Sciences and Maths (11-18) having tutored 50+ students. I have a PhD in Physics from the University of Cambridge, and degrees in Physics/Computer Science and Marine Engineering from the University of Birmingham and Lancaster respectively. I have an excellent knowledge of all UK exam boards.

I specialise in boosting confidence, enjoyment, and grades and particularly thrive in helping students realise their own potential and ability.

Tutoring Experience

Tutored A-level and GCSE physics, biology, chemistry and maths for 12 years. Tutored A-level and GCSE computer science for 3 years.

Tutoring Approach

Over my years of teaching I have refined my approach which can be summarised quite concisely by four foundations.

1. Reliability and flexibility: A professional and effective tutor must be consistent and reliable. I pride myself on this, and understand it's importance for both the student and the parent. Conversely, I am also very flexible to accommodate changes and cancellations and do not believe in cancellation charges.
2. Communication: I encourage good communication with both the student and parent to ensure we are continuing on the right track and I am fully up to date with their school/college progress.
3. Enjoyment: I aim to make the lessons engaging and work hard to increase the students enjoyment of the subject.
4. Exam practice: I have tried and tested techniques that improve the student's ability to answer exam questions concisely and correctly.

In addition to all of the above, I enjoy the opportunity to provide mentorship and careers advice, assisting with subject choice and applications to university/further education.
