Hello! I'm Zoe - and I'm an experienced youth worker, mentor and tutor. I have a first class degree in English, specialising in both teaching and linguistics.
I focus my tutoring on engaging individual people in the subject, finding where their interest lies and bringing out the enthusiasm (however reticent!), as I believe that learning happens best when the learner is happy.
I have a current DBS, and have been a Designated Safeguarding Lead.
I have been a youth worker and educator for 15 years, working in informal and formal learning environments. I've written and run education programmes for community centres, as well as helping to write the Religious Education curriculum in Scotland(!).
The through-line to my teaching has always been engaging children (and adults) in learning, ensuring that their experience is positive. I prioritise building confidence as well as knowledge, so that children are able to feel assured in their own learning, can see their own development, and are proud of their achievements.
I will always sit down with children and families to understand your aims, and then put together a proposal for how I think we can best proceed.
