I am an easy going individual who enjoys the challenges of teaching in a mixed comprehensive.
We have recently moved to South Somerset for a better environment for the children to grow up in.
In the current Covid situation I am experienced in both teaching and tutoring on line and will offer a reduced rate for on-line tutoring.
I have been teaching science in Essex and Hertfordshire for the last 25 years and have recently relocated to Somerset. In this time I have been a Head of House, Head of year and organised outdoor activity trips for over 100 pupils at a time. I try to bring science to life with off the cuff experiments and links to real life events or science in the news. I buy a regular science and technology magazine to ensure that I am up to day with current thinking.
I enjoyed tutoring in the past and I am looking to do it again. I try to make it interesting and stimulating. If it takes the whole session to explain a point I am more than happy to try as many different angles or approaches as possible. I have on occasion needed items from the kitchen to help demonstrate points, so don't be surprised if I ask for bits of string or other household utensils. I have used a push bikes peddles to explain how a car engine works once.
