Hi I'm Annie! I am a 5th year dental student studying at the University of Manchester. Alongside studying, my passion in tutoring has allowed me to help other students to gain confidence and enjoyment in learning! I strongly believe that students must develop valuable skills to become independent life-long learners.
I have been tutoring for 6 years which ranges from private tutees to revision seminars, exam skills and 11 plus preparation. I take great satisfaction in witnessing increasing progress and confidence in my students, which makes tutoring extremely rewarding!
I mainly teach Maths, Biology, Chemistry, Geography and Mandarin. I was born in China and am fluent in reading, writing and speaking. I also have taken my Mandarin GCSE and A-levels.
I have taught students of varying ages, abilities and backgrounds. This has allowed me to tailor sessions to each of their needs and develop excellent communication skills.
APPLYING FOR DENTISTRY?
I am currently studying BDS Dentistry at The University of Manchester. From personal experience I know how to apply to dentistry and guide students through the application process which definitely can seem daunting at first!
From personal statements, to BMAT/UCAT and multiple mini interviews, applying to dentistry is certainly a arduous process. However, with the right preparation and techniques I can definitely help you gain confidence and stand out from the crowd! (enquire for further information and rates)
Learning is a life-long process and most of the effort is through the students outside of lessons. Therefore, I aim to help develop student's curiosity, critical thinking and problem solving skills which allows them to learn independently.
With my passion and enthusiasm I help students to develop their own areas of interest within their subjects. I appreciate each student is unique with different needs, and learning styles. Therefore adaptability, patience, and good communication skills are key! Practising real exam questions allows students to apply their knowledge and identify any knowledge gaps. It is also important to build a solid foundation and engaging seminars can allow students to solidify their knowledge, I always encourage students to be curious and ask questions.
At the end of each lesson I will always encourage the student to self reflect on their learning and also ask for feedback. I may also set homework and send extra resources to allow students to practise and solidify their knowledge.
