I am a second year currently studying Biochemistry (MBioChem) at Oxford University. I genuinely enjoy teaching and, beyond academic tutoring, coach football. In addition, I am currently training to become a windsurfing instructor so that I can increase the amount of teaching I do overall.
I have been a Tutor for four years, during which I mostly taught GCSE level students. This was done both in person and online and I improved my students grades significantly. I also previously fundraised for a school in Ghana and then visited the school in person to teach a lesson we had planned. This was my first experience properly teaching a class and the feeling of making a difference it is where my passion for teaching originated.
My approach to tutoring involves solidifying my students knowledge of the basic principles which make up their subject, enabling them to work out answers themselves, rather than just learn them by route. I aim to introduce concepts beyond the scope of the course to stretch and further deepen my students knowledge of their subject. I find this also reintroduces enjoyment and curiosity back into learning; I encourage my students to question everything, and I will guide them to the answers to their own questions. Additional information or conceptual help will be provided by me only when needed.
